Symptoms of grief can manifest behaviorally, emotionally, and physically. You may find yourself making comments or thinking thoughts far from your normal empathetic way. I want to assure you, those thoughts and unwarranted feelings you are experiencing can be normal. The loss of your child and the aftermath of uncontrollable actions, feelings, and thoughts rapidly shift you to a place you’ve never been. As complicated as this is to say, it is equally as hard for some to understand. Grief is a normal process after loss, and it is to be expected for a period. The complicated part is understanding that grief leads you to a dark tunnel, however, the forward motion of healing should take you to the light on the other end of the tunnel. It becomes challenging when mothers get stuck in the tunnel and can’t find their way to the light; and more complicated when they believe, the dark tunnel is the place they are to remain for the remainder of their life.
